As we reflect upon some of the busiest trading months in recent times for the UK Manufacturing side of our business, it’s clear many companies are revisiting their supply chain management & developing contingencies to deal with global supply interruption.
Clearly there is a very big gap to close in terms of price which is unlikely to change significantly unless there is a global levelling of the cost of living, so one has to be realistic & accept that cost will always be a primary driver, no matter what the product is.
Thankfully we have had a good spread of approved & ethically sourced mills across the world which has allowed us to mitigate specific supply chain issues, but at times like this our retention of a Sack & FIBC manufacturing facility in the UK has proven invaluable & provided great peace of mind for both existing & new customers who have placed stop gap orders to keep production running.
It would be perhaps somewhat naive to think this Pandemic will herald a massive resurgence of UK manufacturing generally, especially given the cost differentials, but it clearly illustrates the benefits of our ability to offer customers “the best of both worlds”
